- Jackson, Jonathan's character wears a red shirt with the word "Lucky" on it in the movie. His character on "General Hospital" is named Lucky.

- Jonathan Jackson's soap opera mother 'Francis, Gene' has a small role as Arnold's mother. Arnold's father is played by her real life husband Jonathan Frankes.

- This was Jessica Alba's first film. She was initially hired as a two-week extra, with no lines. Later, she had to fill in for a principle character and received her first on-screen credit.

- In the films credits it says "Filmed entirely on location -- Nowhere" which is acctually Golden Oak Ranch in Newhall, California.

- A scene that appeared in trailers but was cut from the theatrical release involved one of the kids firing a Nerf bow and arrow at an archery target with a hay backing. The arrow blasts all the way through the target and the kids are left examining the hole.

- The movie references, Rocky IV (1985), Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986), "Baywatch" (1989), "Beavis and Butt-head" (1993) and features "Beverly Hills, 90210" (1990).
